Here at The Harlem Collective we offer a Canon iR-ADV C250/350 printer that you can access when on our WiFI network ("collectivespaces"), located in the second floor shared desk area.
Your Printer PIN
In order to print, you will need to enter your printer PIN into both the "department ID" and "PIN" fields (same number in both fields). Your printer pin is usually the same as your Butterfly door access code. If you don't know your printer PIN and your door access pin is not working, please email email@example.com (If it's a printing emergency, see the front desk).
Fastest Way to Print:
If you only want to make a quick print-out without installing the driver, you can print directly by opening your browser and going to http://192.168.1.47
- Log in using your printer PIN into both fields (provided to you when you joined)
- On the right side of the screen click the button that says DIRECT PRINT
- Under "Specify PDF File" at the top of the screen, attach your PDF file to print
- Click "Start Printing" button at top of screen
- Print out should appear for you
Installing the Print Driver if you Print Often
If you plan to print often, download the relevant driver:
Click here and download your driver.
Once you have installed the print driver, go to Printer > Select Printer Canon iR-ADV C250/350 > Properties > Device Settings > Check "Department ID Management" > Settings > Check "Allow PIN Setting" > Enter your given Department ID/PIN > Check "Confirm Department ID/PIN" > Click OK.
Under Drivers & Downloads, download UFRII_v10.11.00_Mac.zip
Open the .pkg file and follow the instructions.
Go to System Preferences, open Printers & Scanners folder. Click (+) to add a printer.
If printer doesn’t automatically show up, click IP. Next to “Address”, type 192.168.1.47. Next to "Protocol", select LPD or Line Printer Daemon. Next to "Queue", type LP. Next to “Use”, select Canon iR-ADV C250/350.
Open System Preferences (find it under the Apple icon on upper left of your screen)
Open "Printer & Scanners"
Click on our Canon Printer (yours might be listed by IP address)
Click the button that says "Options & Supplies"
Go to the "Options" tab. Set the Paper Source to "Cassette Feeding Unit AG1" and check the box that says "Department ID Management" like this. Click OK
- Then switch to the UTILITY tab and click the "Open Printer Utility" button
The Printer Utility window will pop up. On that window, check "Use Department ID Management" and enter your Dept ID and PIN (use the same number in both boxes -- usually same code as your door pin; if you don't know it, email me). Also check "Confirm Department ID/PIN when printing" and click "SAVE SETTINGS" button. That's it -- print a test page!
Unfortunately, our printer is not a Google Cloud Printer, so you cannot print directly from your applications.
Instead, you can access the printer interface directly by opening your browser and going to http://192.168.1.47
That interface will allow you to upload a PDF document to print directly.
Your printer PIN is used to track the amount of printing you do. Please note that printing is not free; your Harlem Collective membership agreement provides a certain number of free copies per month and a cost per page for additional copies. Check your agreement or email firstname.lastname@example.org for your limit and pricing.
